The Mark returns after two year delay to renovations of Gold Coast icon
MORE than two years after a fire delayed renovations, iconic Gold Coast building The Mark was reopened this afternoon.
The final step in the River to Beach pedestrian link was unveiled and marks the completion of the $17 million refurbishment.
The project was due to be completed a year ago but was delayed by a fire in November, 2012.
Director Chris Didizian said the renovation project hadn’t been easy but he was confident it would help boost the local tourism market.
“We think the next few years are going to be very good for the Gold Coast,” he said.
“For Surfers Paradise … it is on the rebound from ups and downs over the last 30 years and this will be a great boost for tourism.”
